This is the companion to The Replacement Crisis: The Workbook. Two tools, both from the printed pages.
The Pathfinder
Tools 1.1 to 1.5. Fifty interest lines, twelve on how you work, and a thirty-five question battery. It scores itself and gives you two pathways, a work style, and four composites. About two class periods.
The Placement Tracker
Tools 5.1 to 5.5. Roster, partner log, exit record, the number, and a dashboard that fills itself in. Same columns as the printed pages, same arithmetic.
How your data is handled
Everything you type is stored in this browser only, using local storage. There is no server, no account and no transmission. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so use Backup to export a file you keep.
The tracker does not ask for student names. Use initials or a code. Keep the sheet that maps codes to names on paper or on your school drive, where student records belong. The number does not need a single name to be correct.
The Pathfinder Survey
Tools 1.1 and 1.2. Mark how much you would want to do it. Not how good you are at it. 1 = no. 2 = not really. 3 = yes. 4 = yes, and I would go out of my way to do it. Answer fast.
The Aptitude Battery
Tool 1.3. Thirty-five questions, one answer each. You are not expected to know all of it. A guess beats a blank. It scores itself here, so no key is needed.
Your Result
Tools 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6. This updates itself as you answer.
The Placement Tracker
Tools 5.1 to 5.5. Initials or a code only. No names.
The Email Ask
Tool 2.8. Fill the boxes once and the email writes itself. Ten minutes to send to twelve people, and the reply does most of the scheduling for you. Your details are saved on this device so you only type them once.
Your details
Ready to send
Subject line and body. Anything still in brackets needs filling.
The reply form, paste this under the email
Keep the numbering. A partner who replies inside the questions gives you a record you can file, and a forwarded email keeps the questions attached.
Why the six questions
The email is deliberately short. The work is done by the questions underneath it, which ask a partner what they serve, when they are free, how long they can talk, what they need, what they are bringing, and what else they would consider. Every one of those answers feeds a page you already have. Question six matters most: it gives somebody who will not speak a way to say yes to something smaller.
The call script in 2.2 is better when you can get somebody on the phone. This is for when you cannot, and it is the version that survives being forwarded to somebody else inside the company.
